It was my first time there, so I went with the simplest order: The Jumbo Fried Chicken Entree with a side of Mashed Potatoes and Mac n' Cheese, including the complimentary Hot Water Cornbread.
Simply put: this was the best meal I've had all year. Each item was cooked and seasoned to perfection. I don't know how it could have possibly tasted any better. This is not just perfection; it's art. This $10 meal blew the review out of the park earning a perfect 10/10 score on all 3 sides and entree.
Luckily, I live a 5 minute walk away from the cafe, and was able to place my order to go over the phone. I remembered it was cash only so I hit the ATM on the way there. I walked up, told them I was there, paid, tipped, and had my food in five minutes. I was so excited I live streamed the walk home. The whole process was so cheap, fast, and easy I still can hardly believe it.
I promise I'm not trying to over-hype this, because they deserve any amount of recognition they can get. Not only does this family serve legendary southern dishes, they stand behind some truly magnificent achievements that have influenced the history of Smoketown and our city of Louisville.
