Falls City Community Bikeworks: non-profit teaching Louisville community bike maintenance

Updated: Nov 5, 2020

Falls City Community Bikeworks is Louisville's non-profit community bike shop dedicating to teaching the local community all about bicycle maintenance, and supplying bicycles to those in need.

We went to their location in Shelby Park where Nathan Green, shop coordinator, and John Krueger, co-founder, gave us an in-depth tour of everything they had to offer. We also talked to some bikers there who were there using the facility to work on their own bikes with the help of experienced mechanics volunteering their time. Check out the video below!

Falls City Community Bikeworks is truly an amazing thing happening in our city. Their two-part mission states:

1) We provide the space, tools and expertise to any community member wishing to learn and practice bicycle maintenance.
2) We channel the donation of refurbished bicycles (and related equipment and skills) to Louisvillians in need of reliable transportation.
The overriding goal is to make bicycling more affordable and widespread.

They are currently looking for new members and volunteers. You can also support by donating. Find out even more info by visiting their website.

We are excited to attend the Beer Fundraiser tasting event in support of Falls City Community Bikeworks coming up on Wednesday, October 16th from 6-10pm at the Tim Faulkner Art Gallery! The event will feature beer from New Belgium Brewing & West Sixth Brewing, and food by Red Top Hotdogs. Standing tickets are $25 and can be purchased directly from the Facebook event page.

Please consider attending this event; it's certainly for a great cause! Come out for some beer, hotdogs, and some good times.
